Accessories

Anemometer
Anemometer

The anemometer is a device that is used for measuring wind speed. Normally the crane manufacturer should state the maximum wind speed that the crane may be operated in.

An anemometer (wind gauge) should be fixed on the tower crane, in an appropriate location, to provide an accurate wind speed reading.

Wall tie, tie-in assembly, anchor collar, crane tie
Wall tie

Obligatory ties, when the maximum height exceeds the self standing hook height of the crane.

Blocks ballast, base ballast, concrete blocks
Blocks ballast

Concrete or metallic blocks located in the crane base, used to bring stability to the crane.

Having the drawings, it can be done on destination saving freight costs and money.

Jack Pump, climbing accesories, hydraulic unit
Jack Pump

Device required to move the climbing cage, usually compatible in almost all same manufacturer models.

Quite complicate to find it used.

Operator cabin

Operator cabin

A designed place separated from the tower structure for the operator.

Additionally can have controls (sticks) display, air conditioning and heating.

Traslational chassis, rail going, undercarriage, bogie

Traslational chassis

‘Rail travelling’ provides a larger area of hook cover.

The crane may also be mounted on a portal base to provide access under and through the rail travelling structure.

Slewing ring

Slewing gear drive where pinion engages.

Can be with internal or external gear teeth.

Double trolley, 4 wires, double pulley
Double trolley

Device system of two or more pulleys located in the hook.

The rope cable threaded between the pulleys. Allows to increase the maximum capacity, decreasing the hoisting speed.

Inverter, Drive control, Frequency Variator

Inverter

Inverter drive systems are the new trend on the market. Manufacturers are using it today on all crane movements, because its able to achieve smooth operation and allow the loads to be placed very precisely.

Those systems are well known because reduces stress in the component and crane’s structures, which has the advantage of also extend component’s life, and reducing maintenance costs.

Hoist winch LMD
Hoist winch LMD

A Well known Potain electro hydraulic hoist winch technology.

Other Potain systems are: Slewing mechanism RCO, RTV, RCV, RVF, Hoist winch PC, RCS, LVF, Trolley mechanisms D3V and DVF.

Remote control, radio control
Remote control

A remote control is an electronic device used for the remote operation of the cane. This device has been the primary form of control.
